Offline web applications

Now deprecated method of defining web page files to be cached using a cache manifest file, allowing them to work offline on subsequent visits to the page.

Notes

This technology is being deprecated in favor of Service Workers

Bugs

IE 10 does not properly handle the appcache FALLBACK section. It only handles subresources if they are already in the cache.
Currently not supported in some versions of Chrome on Linux.
Reportedly, Android 4.4 WebViews lose the cache after closing the app.
Only Firefox (and Opera 12) supports the prefer-online option under SETTINGS
